Chapter 4. Finding the Fossils

The Boy Paleontologist, on an expedition on the Irvington District of California, discovered in the vertical wall of a quarry  a new fossil. When the fossil was first located, the boys believed it would be saber cat, but as more and more of the fossil was exposed, the boys began to change their minds. One boy was sure that it was deer or elk. Another boy said it looked like African antelopes. They continued to speculate, but all were convinced that the new Irvington fossil a skull with strange horns was some kind of mammal.
